Odoo does 80% of what you need and the last 20% is why you're here. Usually it's one workflow your business runs on that Odoo has an opinion about an approval step, a pricing rule, a report nobody can produce.

That's what I build.

 HOW I BUILD IT

Your logic goes in its own module that inherits from core rather than editing it. That's the difference between an Odoo upgrade being a test and being a rewrite. You get the source, commented, in a folder you can drop into your own repository and another developer can take it over without calling me.
