FAQ
What exactly is UX microcopy?
UX microcopy is the short, functional text inside apps and websites button labels, error messages, onboarding instructions, tooltips, form placeholder text, empty states, and confirmation messages. It is the copy users read while using your product, not marketing copy trying to sell them on it.
What information do you need from me to get started?
I need screenshots or wireframes of the screens you want copy for, a description of your product and its target users, your brand's tone (friendly, professional, playful, technical), and any copy already in place that you want me to match or improve. I send you a requirements form when you order.
What is a "UI string" and how do I count them?
A UI string is one piece of interface copy — a button label, a single error message, one tooltip, one form field label, one notification. A typical onboarding screen has 5–8 UI strings. A full checkout flow might have 15–20. Not sure how many you need? Message me and I will count them for you
Can you match our existing brand voice?
Yes share examples of your existing copy, your style guide (if you have one), and a few sentences describing the tone you want. I will match your voice throughout every string I write. If you do not have a voice guide yet, my Premium package includes creating one for you.
Do you work with Figma or design tools?
Yes you can share your Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD files and I will write copy directly mapped to each screen. I deliver all copy in a clean Google Doc or spreadsheet organised by screen name, making it easy for your designers and developers to implement.
Can you write error messages and empty states specifically?
Yes error messages and empty states are two of the most impactful and most neglected areas of UX copy. I write error messages that are helpful and human (not cold and technical), and empty states that guide users toward action rather than showing a blank screen.
What industries and product types do you cover?
I write for SaaS platforms, mobile apps (iOS and Android), eCommerce and checkout flows, fintech dashboards, EdTech platforms, healthcare apps, no-code tools, and B2B web products. If your product type is not listed, message me I likely cover it.
