We build machine-readable datasets from US public records. Our open-source project, Open Permit Fees, extracts building-permit fee schedules straight from each jurisdiction's own adopted fee documents...
About this Gig

Choosing where to build or expand? Permit fee numbers on comparison websites are mostly uncited copies of each other. This service is the opposite: a purpose-built extraction from each city's own adopted fee schedule documents. You get a comparison table for your permit types (building, solar, mechanical, pool, whatever you name) across up to 3 US cities or counties, and every number carries the jurisdiction's own source URL, the SHA-256 of the exact document it was read from, the page, line, and verbatim matched text, and the adopting ordinance with its effective date. If your fee is valuation based, I compute it at your actual project value using the city's real tier table instead of a made-up typical number. Fees a city does not publish are reported as unpublished, never estimated, so you also learn which cities are transparent. Deliverables: a comparison table in CSV plus a readable summary, a full citation appendix, and a coverage report. Additional cities beyond 3 are available as a gig extra. Ideal for developers, franchise and expansion planners, permit expediters, and construction cost estimators who need numbers they can defend.
