Just to clarify why you need vector:
1. Quality. Vectors have immaculate quality at any resolution
2. You will get better result for print with vector file. you dont get pixels with vector images.
3. Faster to load page when you use SVG vector graphic files for your website
4. Much easier to edit than regular bitmap image such as JPG or PNG
