Do I need custom code or a third-party app in my Shopify store to show 3D model?
No. You can upload a 3D model in GLB / glTF directly to your product pages as easily as an image, without the need for custom code or a third-party app.
Do I need 3D file for the 3D configuration?
Yes, you will need a 3D configurator compatible 3D model of your product if you want 3D configuration.
Can you convert STL/STP/CAD file format provided by the manufacturer to a 3D model which is compatible with Zakeke or Shopify?
Yes, that's possible, and it's faster than creating the 3D model from scratch. Please send me the 3D model for review.
Which 3D file types supported by Zakeke and Shopify?
The supported file formats for your 3D model are Wavefront OBJ and MTL (.obj) BABYLON JS (.json) GLB/glTF (.glb, .gltf). Zakeke supports ZIP files that include both the 3D model and relative textures.
Optimized 3D model file size?
Size 3D models should be as light as possible in order to have fast load times and good performance. Zakeke and Shopify suggest creating low-poly 3D models with a maximum number of 200.000 polygons for about 7 MB.
What is UV Mapping?
UV mapping is the 3D modeling process of projecting a 3D model's surface to a 2D image for texture mapping.
