As a reader, what sort of things do you look for?
Mainly, I look for inconsistencies, plot holes, and share my thoughts as I read along. I want to treat your story as a reader would when reading it for the first time.
As an alpha/beta reader, what sort of things do you look for?
Primarily consistency. My goal is to ensure you understand what makes the story work, not work, and whether the themes are obvious, or characters are consistent, and so on.
Do you proofread as you go along?
No, that is a separate service entirely. While alpha drafts are typically rough, beta drafts should already have some editing done to them before handing them in. If you want me to proofread/edit for you, I offer those services too.
What formats do you want me to send to you?
Make sure that you send it in either .rtf, .docx, or .odt format. In the last two, I can add comments directly onto the manuscript, but with .rtf, I will have to load it into Google Docs to do that. Please do not send them in .pdf format.
