Developmental editing focuses on the manuscript as a whole structure, pacing, plot, character development, tone, and overall story effectiveness. This stage is about identifying what is and isnt working on a big-picture level and providing actionable feedback to strengthen the book.

Line editing comes after developmental editing is complete. It focuses on the writing itself: improving sentence flow, clarity, word choice, readability, dialogue, and style while preserving the authors unique voice.

Proofreading is the final polishing stage, correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, typos, and formatting inconsistencies to prepare the manuscript for publication or submission.
