FAQ
What is included in book editing and formatting?
It depends on the package. Basic: book proofreading and copy editing (5,000 words). Standard: copy and line editing, a style sheet and Kindle/EPUB formatting (20,000 words). Premium: full edit, Kindle ebook and KDP paperback interior PDF (70,000 words).
What is the difference between proofreading, copy editing and line editing?
Proofreading fixes typos, spelling and punctuation. Copy editing fixes grammar, consistency and word choice. Line editing improves clarity, flow and pacing line by line. Basic covers proofreading and copy editing; Standard and Premium add line editing.
How much does book editing and formatting cost?
Book editing starts at $30 for up to 5,000 words. Editing + Kindle formatting for 20,000 words is $110. Full book editing and formatting (Kindle + paperback) for up to 70,000 words is $195.
How long does it take to edit and format a book?
Basic (5,000 words): 3 days. Standard (20,000 words + Kindle): 7 days. Premium (70,000 words + Kindle and paperback): 14 days. Extra fast delivery cuts this to 1, 4 or 9 days. Each extra 10,000 words adds 2 days.
Will my book pass Amazon KDP formatting checks?
Standard and Premium files are formatted to KDP's ebook rules, and Premium adds KDP trim size, margin and bleed settings for paperback. I check every file in KDP's previewer, and if KDP flags my formatting but I can't guarantee the amazon checks completely since other factos are involved too.
Can I add paperback formatting to the Standard package?
Yes. Add the paperback formatting extra ($60) to Standard and you get a print-ready KDP paperback interior PDF along with your Kindle/EPUB file. Premium already includes both.
Can I get a free sample edit first?
Yes. Send me about 500 words and I'll return a sample edit so you can see my book editing style before you order.
What file formats do you accept and deliver?
I accept Word (.docx) and Google Docs. Every package delivers two Word files: Track Changes and a clean copy. Standard adds an EPUB/Kindle file. Premium adds an EPUB/Kindle file and a print-ready paperback PDF.
