I bring my years of experience with your target audience and my perspective as a potential teacher of your book.
During a developmental edit, I read your manuscript twice, slowly and thoroughly. I consider how to improve your marketability, authenticity, and overall quality of your manuscript.
Your manuscript will be returned to you with tracked edits, in-line comments, and a Developmental Editorial Report.
Here's what you can expect:
- a 3-10 page Editorial Report, reviewing pacing, characters, PoV, worldbuilding, scene transitions, etc
- constructive in-line comments, questions, rewritten sections, and specific feedback that can be immediately implemented

How long have you been teaching?
I have been in the middle school reading classroom since 2014. That's 11 years ago! I started working with writers on manuscripts around 2019.
What is the difference between a betaread and a developmental edit?
During a betaread, I read your manuscript once through. I return a report and leave inline comments and light edits in your manuscript. A developmental edit includes thorough edits and a longer final report that includes rewrites, suggestions, and new ideas. I read these manuscripts twice.
Favorite read so far this year?
I loved the second book in the Amari and the Night Brothers series just as much as the first. I also recently loved Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger and From the Desk of Zoe Washington by Janae Marks.
