Hey, I'm Zac! I own ZT Music Studio, an audio production studio based near Toronto, Canada. I have over 10 years of mastering experience and have mastered 5k+ songs totalling over 100 million streams. I completed my education through UCLA and Berklee College of Music, where I was awarded a celebrity scholarship by Grammy winning producer Don Was. I have a passion for mastering, and am energized by the process of finalizing an artist's vision, helping them solidify their desired sonic identity.

Zac Tiessen is an international award-winning composer and mastering engineer based near Toronto, Canada. His credits include additional music for Netflix and Ubisoft (Playstation/Xbox), and music mastering on multiple BBC documentaries. Tiessen has worked on thousands of songs and soundtracks from over 50 countries, including Billboard charting albums, with millions of streams online. Awards include celebrity scholarship from Grammy winning producer Don Was through his studies at Berklee College of Music and FACTOR Canada for his original compositions.

FAQ
What if my album is in between packages, are you able to give me a custom price?
For sure! For more than 5 songs, it is $50/ea and for more than 10 songs, it is $40 ea. Feel free to message me and I can set up a custom order. Looking forward to hearing more about your project!
Does this gig include mixing?
It does not. It is for mastering only, which assumes all mixing has been finalized yourself or with the producer/engineer you are working with. For mixing, I only work with classical/soundtrack/cinematic artists. If you are interested, feel free to message me!
What do you need from me? One file per song or individual stems?
All I need for mastering is one file per song (WAV or AIFF), no session files or stems as this isn't mixing. The mixes should be finalized, but I am fine to give feedback before ordering to check there is headroom (e.x. maybe I think vocals could go up 0.5db, etc.). 44.1k or 48k works, 24 or 16 bit.
How do I send you my files?
Export your mix as a single WAV or AIFF file from your DAW and attach it directly on Fiverr OR via Dropbox, Google Drive or Wetransfer and send me the downloadable link here on Fiverr!
What level should I send my mixes to you at? Is it okay if I leave mix buss processing on?
Ideally the mixes peak no more than -3db (-16db RMS) on the stereo out. That will give me enough headroom to apply my processing. If they are maxed out at 0db with a limiter on, I can only do EQ sculpting and not much more. If subtle mix compression/saturation was used, that is okay to leave on.
Will your Mastering comply to loudness standards on Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, etc.?
It will! The process of Mastering raises the loudness/compression according to genre. Anywhere from -16 (classical/orchestral) to -5 (EDM/rap) LUFS. Streaming loudness is -14 LUFS, but commercial/radio releases sit above this regardless. I aim for -8 LUFS, competitive but not distorted.
Why hire someone else to Master? Why can't I do it myself?
It allows a fresh perspective and acts as a final 'polish' that can not be achieved if it were to be done by the mixer/songwriter. Another factor is taking songs either by multiple producers or those mixed vastly different tonally. My job is to make everything coherent and listenable!
What is the most streams a project has gotten that you've mastered?
I enjoy working with Cole Rolland, a virtuoso guitarist who has over 30 million views on his rendition of "Canon Rock" I mastered in 2018: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L007GhpMR3U I've also mastered video games (Gunborg: Dark Matter, Nintendo/PS5) and TV soundtracks (BBC/Discovery Channel).
