About this gig

A painter who observes marine organisms. I, with the research of marine biologists on ship preservation and marine biofouling (the accumulation of organisms on surfaces), depicted the human face as a rock covered with barnacles, oysters, and calcareous shells. Through the combination of linen, oil-based pigments, calcium white powder, and rough accumulation, I created portrait works that embody the hardships of survival, defense mechanisms, and the aesthetic of alienation. In the painting, you are a lighthouse standing firm against the waves, with your skin transformed into armor.

[Core Elements]

The elements of accumulation/clustering + Calcareous white / Sea mud black / Rust red + Hard / Porous / Rough texture + Cool diffused light are integrated.

An artist observing marine organisms' attachment. Drawing from a crafts designer's research on ship anti-corrosion and marine biofouling, I depict human faces as rocky outcrops covered in barnacles, oysters, and calcareous shells. Through the fusion of linen, oil paints, calcium-based white powder, and coarse accumulations, I create portraits that embody the hardships of survival, defensive mechanisms, and an aesthetic of alienation. In my painting, you are a lighthouse standing firm against crashing waves, your skin transformed into armor.
