What's an MCP server, and do I need one?
It's a standard way to give an agent access to your own tools and data — your database, your ticketing system, your documents. You need one if the agent has to act on your systems rather than just talk. If it only needs to answer questions, you don't.
How do I stop the agent doing something destructive?
Scoped permissions and guardrails, which is the Agent System package. An agent gets access to specific tools with specific limits — not general access to your infrastructure. This is the part most agent projects skip.
What will this cost to run?
Agents consume more tokens than single-prompt features because they loop. I'll estimate your monthly spend before you order and build in hard ceilings so an unexpected loop doesn't produce an unexpected bill.
Claude, OpenAI, or something else?
Depends on the tools involved and your latency tolerance. I'll recommend one with the reasoning, not just a preference.
Can you connect it to our existing systems?
That's what MCP is for. Tell me which systems and I'll confirm feasibility before you order.
What if an agent isn't the right solution?
I'll say so. Plenty of problems described as agent problems are better served by a scheduled job and an API call. I'd rather tell you that than sell you something more complicated than you need.
